Position Overview

Reporting to the Head of Pharmacy , the Pharmacy sales team will be responsible to implementing MSD UK’s pharmacy services across regional multiples and independents, as well as expanding the reach of our commercial pricing activities across this important customer segments. The sales team will have responsibility for a broad portfolio of products including established and in-line brands and will have full accountability for their selected target customers and securing incremental product sales from these customers. This role requires both commercial acumen and a broad understanding of customer needs.

Implementation of pharmacy services

To lead the implementation of pharmacy services in your territory and monitor and track update and key metrics.

To provide feedback on the pharmacy strategy and campaign to the head of pharmacy

To work with the area access leads to ensure effective implementation of these assets within the local LPCs

Be a centre of excellence for pharmacy services within your region and share knowledge and best practice with the local sales teams

Secure value through deployment of commercial terms

Identify opportunities to secure additional value for the MSD portfolio through the targeted deployment of pre-agreed commercial terms with targeted pharmacy customers. You will be measured on the value of sales secured within your target accounts.

Track and monitor uptake of these commercial terms to ensure effective compliance and accurate rebate claims

Post any changes in distribution model are able to secure transfer orders and gain additional volume sales for the portfolio

Close working with the primary care commercial manager and operational pricing function

Key Account management and customer engagement

Personally responsible for the key account management of the core retail pharmacy customers in the territory, including development of customer account plans and joint business plans.

Develop robust customer relationships with all retail pharmacy stakeholders in the territory including the local pharmacy committees.

To roll out a range of pharmacy initiatives within these chains with the focus on win-win for both MSD and the customer

Business Operations

To promote and enhance a positive image of MSD and our products/services at all levels of NHS and Private sector

Operate at all times with the highest level of integrity

Conduct all activities in compliance with company policies and standards, and with the PMCPA Code of Practice and MHRA guidance

Conduct all activities in line with company safety standards and policies

Qualifications

Knowledge Required

In-depth understanding of the Pharmacy channel and of related commercial practices such as Brand Equalisation deals and differential discounting

Comprehensive experience in pharmaceutical sales.

In this role you will be directly accountable for driving sales in your territory and therefore it is essential that you are able to ‘close’ a call.

Broad understanding of MSD portfolio and therapy areas

Skills and Competencies Required

Ability to handle difficult commercial conversations – ability to “close the deal”

Negotiation and selling skills

Commercial awareness and acumen

Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Projectleider viruskweek technologie

De afdeling Viral Bioprocess Technology & Support (BTS-V) is binnen MSD AH verantwoordelijk voor de ontwikkeling van virale productieprocessen. De virale antigenen worden verwerkt tot levende en geinactiveerd vaccins (vriesdrogen en vloeibare formuleringen met adjuvans). De afdeling ontwikkelt processen voor nieuwe vaccins (R&D-pijplijn) en geeft waar nodig support aan productie afdelingen (bestaande producten). Het BTS team heeft wereldwijd vertegenwoordiging en werkt nauw samen met R&D, Productie en Kwaliteits-afdelingen binnen MSD Animal Health.

Functie omschrijving:

- Ontwikkeling antigeen productieprocessen (upstream & downstream) voor veterinaire vaccins met een zeer groot aantal verschillende cellijnen (zoogdieren, vogel, vis en insecten).
- Opschaling van de productie systemen naar pilot-schaal om voldoende materiaal voor registratie doeleinden produceren en gemakkelijke overdracht naar productie te waarborgen.
- Optimalisatie van bestaande antigeen productieprocessen voor veterinaire vaccins.
- Onderzoek uitvoeren (platform technologie) naar cel & viruskweek. Dit omvat de ontwikkeling van eigen serumvrije media en vriesdrogen stabilisatoren, suspensie cellijnen, baculovirus antigeen expressie, transfectie productie, nieuwe hardware voor USP en DSP, etc.
- Ontwikkeling en overdracht van analytische tests om het product opbrengst en de kwaliteit te controleren: ELISA , titratie , inactivatie controle, enz.

Kwalificaties
- Een academische opleiding, een relevante Ph.D. graad is een pré (bv. diergeneeskunde, biologie, biotechnologie, virologie, microbiologie).

- Develop broad view on general developments in Belgian and Luxembourg healthcare sector (e.g. through participation in conferences, symposia, etc?)

- Monitor and analyze new governments initiatives, potential change in law and broader developments (including parliamentary activities; both regarding healthcare and industrial policies); identify key trends

- Proactively assess their business consequences for MSD in Belgium and Luxembourg, in close coloration with other teams (market access, regulatory, medical, franchises?)

The position

He/She ensures compliance with PV processes and regulations, and Merck policies and procedures for his/her country operation. The PV Country Lead may be responsible for supervising pharmacovigilance colleagues, taking responsibility for recruitment, training, development, and performance management. The incumbent represents Merck for any safety issues, interfacing with the local Global Clinical Trial Operations (GCTO), Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA), Global Medical Affairs (GMA) and other business unit colleagues to ensure alignment on issues impacting PV

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Compliance Responsibilities: (comprising about 70 percent of time)

· Ensure spontaneous and solicited / clinical trial adverse events reports from their country/territories are translated and processed in a timely manner with high quality

· Ensure adverse event reports are entered into the Global Safety database or forwarded according to required timelines to a designated data entry center or contractual partner.

· Ensure follow-up is conducted and documented as required

· Ensure reconciliation of adverse events reports received from other Merck operating units (e.g., Designated Point of Contact, Medical Information, etc.) and contractual partners is performed, as applicable

· Ensure timely submission of spontaneous and solicited / clinical trial individual case safety reports (ICSRs) from their country/territories to the local Health Authorities

· Preparation and submission of PSURs to local health authority

· Ensure the filing, storage and archiving of safety-related data

· Serve as the Local Qualified Person for PV for their country if required by local regulations

· Ensure after-hours coverage and maintain adequate back-up coverage to ensure business continuity

· Review contracts for inclusion of AE exchange agreement language

· Ensure that local procedures are in place and kept up to date for all PV activities

· Ensure compliance with PV regulations and Merck policies/procedures and when needed take corrective action

· Monitors individual case safety report compliance and takes the necessary corrective actions locally for late reporting

· Report compliance/business statuses through use of metrics

· Monitor, review, and implement PV regulations for their country/territories and communicate any changes to Global Safety Regional Leaders and/or Global Safety MoW / EU Leader and other local business functions, as applicable

· Ensure timely implementation of new or revised reporting requirements in their country/territories

· Act on behalf of the EU-QPPV(s); the management of the local country PV system on behalf of the EU-QPPV(s) as described in the current version of the EU-QPPV SOP(s) is a formally delegated task of the PV Country Lead.

· Prepare for audits/inspections for their country/territories, act as the main interface to auditors/inspectors, and develop Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs) in response to findings/observations with input from Global Safety Regional Leader and/or Global Safety MoW / EU Leader

· Conduct qualification and ongoing audits of vendors (e.g. external archiving facility)

· Ensure local Literature searches for Adverse Events are conducted

· Review of local initiatives (e.g., websites, registries, marketing initiatives) and clinical trial, postmarketing surveillance (PMS), and post authorization safety studies (PASS) protocols for compliance with PV requirements, as applicable

· Identify and communicate potential safety issues to the Global Safety Regional Leader and/or Global Safety MoW / EU Leader and /or Global Safety Headquarters

· Ensure delivery, documentation and tracking to completion of training for PV staff, distributors, and customer facing non-PV staff (e.g., Sales Reps, Medical Information, etc.)

· Participate in Due Diligence activities for local country licensing agreements.

General Responsibilities: (comprising about 20 percent of time)

· Recruit, develop, mentor, supervise, and performance manage direct reports, temporary colleagues, and PV support personnel

· Assign tasks & schedule coverage for holidays, periods of absence, etc.

· Ensure that up to date organisation charts, job descriptions, CVs and training records for all PV staff are available

within the local company

· Ensure that changes to the local PV staff (permanent and temporary) are communicated to Global Safety Regional Leader and/or Global Safety MoW / EU Leader

· Discuss resource issues with Global Safety Regional Leader and/or Global Safety MoW / EU Leader

· Manage multiple projects working with strict timelines

· Perform other activities as requested by the Global Safety Regional Leader and/or Global Safety MoW / EU Leader

Key Interactions: (comprising about 10 percent of time)

· Serve as the point of contact for the local Health Authority or liaise with the Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA) / Global Medical Affairs (GMA) colleagues for questions from the Health Authorities regarding safety and ICSRs

· Liaise with the Country Leaders and colleagues in Global Clinical Trial Operations (GCTO), Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA), Global Medical Affairs (GMA) and other business units to keep them apprised of safety activities and provide input on strategic decisions (i.e., new clinical trials, product launches, etc.)

· Liaise with the Country Leaders and colleagues in Global Clinical Trial Operations (GCTO), Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA), Global Medical Affairs (GMA) and other business units to ensure processes are in place for activities that are performed by those functions which impact PV

· Liaise with the EU-QPPV (periodic and ad-hoc, as applicable) in consultation with Global Safety Regional Leader or Global Safety MoW / EU Leader, to enable the EU-QPPV to maintain PV system oversight.

· Act as liaison between Legal and Global Safety for legal complaints / litigation as needed

· Liaise with PV Regional Centers/Data Management Centers

· Participate on corporate sponsored committees and councils (i.e., Medical Governance Council)

· Represent Merck at external safety meetings (e.g., PHARMA, etc.)

The alliance management function is responsible to ensure that MSD and partners achieve the goals of strategic partnerships by implement the agreed on actions and activities from the business development partnerships agreements.
